Adoption Process Welcoming a PureJewel Maine Coon in Japan
This page explains the process for welcoming a PureJewel Maine Coon through domestic handover in Japan, from your first inquiry and viewing appointment to reservation, contract, payment, microchip registration, and handover.
Because our cats are raised in a private home environment, all visits are by appointment and are intended for families who are genuinely considering welcoming a kitten.
For Residents in Japan
If you reside in Japan and visit PureJewel in person, important explanations and the sales agreement must be clearly understood.
If you are unable to communicate sufficiently in Japanese, you must be accompanied by an interpreter. The buyer is responsible for arranging and paying for the interpreter. PureJewel does not arrange or provide interpretation services.
Contracts for kittens handed over in Japan are governed by Japanese law.
International Exports Are Temporarily Suspended
At present, PureJewel is not accepting or arranging international exports.
International exports are temporarily suspended until further notice due to changing flight schedules, route availability, transport costs, and other conditions that may affect the welfare and safety of the cats.
Residents in Japan may still contact us regarding domestic handover in Japan.

Viewing Appointment

If you find a kitten you are interested in, please contact us through our official contact channel.
All visits are strictly by appointment only.
Please arrange your viewing date with us in advance.
When making an inquiry, please tell us which kitten you would like to meet.
We normally allow viewings of up to two kittens per family.
We may not be able to accommodate same-day changes to kittens that were not specified in advance.
As part of our infection-control measures and to reduce stress for the cats, we ask that visits be kept to a small number of people.
An inquiry alone does not reserve a kitten.
We do not confirm reservations by message or verbal agreement alone.
For a later pickup, a kitten is considered reserved after the required reservation deposit has been received.
Because our cats live in a private home environment, visits are limited to families who are genuinely considering welcoming a kitten.
PureJewel may decline a viewing or transaction when we believe that sufficient mutual understanding or a relationship of trust cannot be established.
Our View on Visits
At PureJewel, the welfare of our cats comes first. Our viewing rules, hygiene measures, and breeding practices are designed with the physical and emotional wellbeing of the cats in mind.
A viewing is not intended as entertainment. It is an opportunity for the family and PureJewel to consider whether the match is appropriate while protecting the wellbeing of the cats.
For this reason, we may limit the number of visitors, physical contact, the length of a visit, or other aspects of the visit when necessary. Interaction with a kitten is always guided by the kitten's condition and response at that time.

We ask all visitors to sanitize their hands before meeting the kittens.
We take reasonable measures to maintain hygiene and monitor the kittens' health. However, cats are living animals, and no breeder can guarantee that a kitten will never become ill or injured in the future.
Please understand that normal life with a cat includes food, daily care costs, routine veterinary care, and possible unexpected veterinary expenses.
If a kitten develops concerning symptoms while still in our care, we will consult our regular veterinarian and arrange treatment when necessary.
We can also provide information about pet insurance available from the day of handover, depending on the applicable plan.To reduce infection risk, please do not visit another cattery or pet shop on the same day before visiting PureJewel.

Reservation and Contract

Once you have decided which kitten you would like to welcome, we will ask you to review the sales agreement carefully.
Please sign the agreement only after you understand and agree to its contents.
If the kitten will be picked up at a later date, a reservation deposit of JPY 50,000 is required. The kitten is considered reserved after the deposit has been received.
If the kitten is handed over on the same day as the viewing, full payment is required at that time.
If the buyer cancels for personal reasons after reservation, the reservation deposit is non-refundable.
If PureJewel must cancel the transaction for reasons on our side, money held by PureJewel for that transaction will be refunded in full.

Microchip Registration
Under Japan's microchip registration system, the new owner must complete the change of owner registration after purchasing a cat with a registered microchip.
The online change-registration fee is currently JPY 400.
The official registration system accepts supported online payment methods, including credit card and barcode payment.
Please have a smartphone or other device available for the online procedure.

On the day of handover, we will review the kitten's current condition and explain the information needed for the transition to your home.

Please bring a secure carrier for taking your kitten home.
If the kitten was reserved for later pickup, any remaining balance must be paid by the time of handover.If the required payment cannot be confirmed, the kitten cannot be handed over.
Important Guidance for Life with Your New Kitten After Handover
Cats can be sensitive to changes in environment, and young kittens may be especially affected by travel, a new home, unfamiliar sounds, changes in temperature, and separation from their mother and littermates.
Even when a kitten appears confident at PureJewel, the move itself is a major environmental change.
Please give your kitten time to become familiar with the new home rather than expecting immediate interaction.
During the first days after handover, please pay close attention to eating, drinking, urination, bowel movements, activity, and general condition.
Kittens are also curious and active.
Before handover, please check your home for risks such as electrical cords, unstable furniture, open windows, small objects that may be swallowed, unsafe high places, and other potential hazards.
Our goal is not to promise that every transition will be completely trouble-free, but to help each family prepare realistically for life with a growing cat.
Items Provided at the Time of Handover What Goes Home with Your Kitten
- Approximately 400g of the dry food currently being fed
- Wet food
- A toy
- A blanket or cloth with a familiar scent
- Toilet sheets
- A small amount of familiar cat litter
- Vaccination certificate
- Pedigree certificate information
- Microchip registration information and certificate
If the pedigree certificate is not yet available on the handover date, it will be sent later after issuance.
Items to Bring on the Handover Day Please Prepare in Advance
- A secure cat carrier
- Any remaining payment due for the kitten
- A smartphone or other device for the online microchip registration procedure
- A supported payment method for the microchip registration fee
If you are traveling a long distance, we may ask you to prepare additional items depending on the season, travel time, and circumstances. We will let you know in advance when anything additional is recommended.
If you would like to take the kitten home on the same day as the viewing, please tell us before your appointment so that we can confirm whether same-day handover is possible.
