Hello, and thank you for visiting PureJewel. We are a private Maine Coon cattery in Tokyo, Japan, dedicated exclusively to Maine Coons.
I have spent more than twenty years living with and caring for dogs and cats, and those experiences have shaped the way I think about breeding, daily care, and life with companion animals.
Before focusing on Maine Coons, I also shared my life with many breeds, including Toy Poodles, Standard Poodles, Border Collies, German Shepherds, Miniature Schnauzers, and Miniature Dachshunds.
Even so, the impression Maine Coons left on me was unforgettable. Their noble presence, affectionate nature, impressive size, and distinctive character drew me deeply into the breed.
Even after many years, the more I learn about Maine Coons, the more I feel there is still to observe, understand, and study.
Today, PureJewel specializes exclusively in Maine Coons. We consider health, temperament, overall balance, breed type, pedigree, and the individual characteristics of each cat when planning our breeding program and daily care.
We are also happy to answer questions about daily life with cats and about the kittens raised at PureJewel. Whether you have lived with cats for many years or are preparing to welcome your first cat, we aim to provide clear and practical guidance.

Our Environment
In April 2021, we renovated our space to create a comfortable and spacious environment where our cats can rest, move, and live naturally within the home.
Air purifiers operate throughout the cattery around the clock to support a clean indoor environment. We also improved ventilation with hygiene and infection prevention in mind.
Cat steps and vertical spaces provide opportunities for movement and exercise that suit the physical characteristics of Maine Coons.
Social Development
We believe that social experience is an important part of kitten development. Kittens are not raised only with their mother and littermates.
After their first vaccination and when their condition is appropriate, they may also spend time around trusted cats in the home. This gives them opportunities to gradually experience different cats, household sounds, people, and ordinary daily life.
Every kitten is different, so we do not expect all kittens to develop the same personality. Our aim is to provide experiences that may help them build confidence and social familiarity at their own pace.
Health and Hygiene
To help protect the health of our kittens, we ask visitors to sanitize their hands before meeting the cats.
We place strong importance on hygiene and health management and take reasonable steps to maintain a carefully managed environment.
At the same time, cats are living beings, and no breeder can honestly promise a life entirely free from illness or injury.
We ask future families to understand that, in addition to the purchase price, daily care expenses, quality food, litter, routine veterinary care, and possible unexpected veterinary expenses are a natural part of life with a cat.
PureJewel works closely with a veterinarian who has supported us for many years. If a kitten shows concerning signs while still in our care, we consult the veterinarian and arrange examination or treatment when necessary.
Our daily standards are based not only on legal requirements, but also on our own approach to maintaining a calm environment, manageable breeding plans, hygiene, and careful observation of the cats.
We can also provide information about pet insurance that may begin on the day of handover, depending on the applicable plan. Please ask if you would like more information.

Grooming Demonstration Activities
Cats from PureJewel regularly participate as grooming models for animal vocational schools. Some cats raised at PureJewel have also appeared in magazines, company calendars, and pet-related advertising.

We also participate in cat shows as part of our continued learning and observation of Maine Coon breed type and overall balance.
For us, showing is not only about earning titles. It is also an opportunity to continue studying the breed and comparing our own observations with established breed standards.
Our Approach to Pricing
We receive many questions about pricing, so we would like to explain our basic perspective clearly.
The price of a kitten may vary depending on several factors, including color, pedigree, sex, overall type, temperament, coat quality, structure, and other individual characteristics.
More detailed evaluation may also include features such as ear placement, tail length, profile, lynx tips, and the overall characteristics of the individual kitten.
However, we hope families will look beyond the visible purchase price alone. Living with a cat naturally involves continuing expenses such as food, litter, climate control, daily care, veterinary visits, and neutering or spaying at an appropriate time.
Illness or injury may also occur during a cat's life, as with any living being.
Each kitten is raised through daily care, nutrition management, hygiene, environmental investment, pedigree planning, veterinary support when needed, and continuous observation.
PureJewel also adjusts breeding plans and placement timing so that the number of cats in our care remains appropriate for our staffing, home environment, and applicable animal welfare requirements.
Pricing may therefore vary between kittens and between litters, but our aim is always to maintain appropriate care rather than increase the number of kittens produced.
